Troops of 22 Armoured Brigade deployed at the Forward Operating Base Patigi, has killed an unidentified bandit at Edu Local Government Area of Kwara.
The troop were on fighting patrol within Gbugbu general area and continued to sustain pressure on criminal elements, until they recorded a major success.
This is contained in a statement signed by Captain Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin.
“At about 12:10 a.m, the vigilant troops following a credible intelligence on movement of armed bandits along Daban-Lema Road, Edu LGA, conducted ambush and subsequently attack the miscreants.
“During exchange of fire, the soldiers overpowered the criminals with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray.
“Also, subsequent exploitation along the bandits’ withdrawal route, the troops neutralised one bandit,” Nwankwo said.
He said that items recovered from the operation includes; AK-47 rifle, AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and a motorcycle.

The Spokesperson said that the remains of the neutralised bandits had been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
“The Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, praised the troop vigilance, resilience and doggedness.
He urged them to continue fighting enemies, reaffirming the Brigade’s determination to intensify operations and employ all legitimate means to eradicate criminal elements, as well as safeguards lives and properties of law-abiding citizens.
