Mammoth crowd as Radio Star Oriyomi Hamzat Announces Bid for Oyo Governorship 2027 [PHOTOS]

The Chief Executive Officer of Agidigbo FM and renowned radio presenter, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Hamzat made the declaration public on Saturday in Ibadan, where a large crowd of supporters, party members, and political associates gathered to witness the formal announcement of his entry into the governorship race.

Speaking at the event, the popular broadcaster said his decision to run was driven by a strong desire to serve the people of Oyo State and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state. He described his ambition as a response to persistent calls from residents who believe his grassroots influence, media experience, and philanthropic activities can translate into effective governance.
Oriyomi Hamzat, widely known for his outspoken radio programmes and humanitarian interventions through Agidigbo FM, stated that he has chosen the Accord Party as his political platform after careful consideration, describing it as a party that aligns with his vision for inclusive governance and people-oriented leadership.
He also announced that he would no longer campaign or mobilise support for other political aspirants, stressing that his full attention is now on pursuing his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration has generated widespread reactions across Oyo State and beyond, with supporters applauding his courage to step into active politics, while political observers say his popularity and strong grassroots connection could significantly alter the political landscape of the state.

Notorious cultist, Oko-Ilu arraigned in court on nine counts in Osogbo

A wanted cultist in Osun State, Hammed Rasheed, 29, popularly known as Oko-Ilu has been charged to court. Oko-Ilu was brought to court by the Police before the Chief Magistrate Olufemi Ayilara of the Osogbo Magistrate Court on Wednesday. The suspected cultist was charged with nine counts bordering on murder, unlawfully killing two persons, disruption of public peace, cultism and others. He was charged with the death of Hassan Adedeji, one Idowu (A.K.A Delta) and the shooting of one Inspector Gbenga Eke. The charge sheet brought to court by the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun was not read in the court as the Magistrate did not take Oko-Ilu’s plea. The Magistrate, Ayilara remanded him in Ilesa prison and adjourned the case till October 7. A magistrate’s court sitting in Wuse, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has remanded Prof Zainab Duke Abiola in Suleja Prison over the assault of Inspector Teju Moses, a police orderly attached to her. A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has convicted the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa for contempt of court in relation to his agency’s failure to comply with an earlier order of the court.
