Political developments in Oyo State have taken a clearer turn as fresh insights reveal that Governor Seyi Makinde has only endorsed a candidate for the Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, leaving the 2 State House of Assembly positions, particularly Akinyele Constituency 1, wide open and undecided.
No Consensus Candidate for Akinyele Constituency 1
Despite growing speculation, there is no officially selected or consensus candidate for Akinyele Constituency 1. Reports suggesting that the incumbent, Hon. Lekan Abiola, has secured the governor’s backing has earlier been objected and firmly debunked by party insiders.
Stakeholders within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State describe such claims as false, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary tension within party ranks.
There is no directive, no endorsement, and no consensus yet for the State Assembly seat in Akinyele. The public should disregard those rumours, a credible party source disclosed.
Toheeb Adegoke( Adlat) Emerges as Sole Endorsed Candidate, While the State Assembly race remains open, Governor Makinde has reportedly thrown his weight behind Hon. Toheeb Adegoke (Adlat) for the Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency seat.
This endorsement stands as the only confirmed political backing from the governor in the area so far, drawing a clear line between verified decisions and speculative claims.
The circulation of unverified endorsements has begun to stir political tension in Akinyele Constituency 1, with aspirants and their supporters actively mobilizing across the six wards.
Party leaders and elders are now urging calm, warning that premature declarations and misinformation could fracture party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
Stakeholders continue to emphasize the importance of transparency, fairness, and adherence to internal democratic processes in selecting candidates.
Many within the constituency insist that the party must avoid imposition and instead allow a process that reflects the will of the people and preserves trust among loyal members.
As political permutations continue to unfold, one fact remains clear: Governor Makinde has only endorsed a federal constituency candidate and has yet to finalize any State Assembly candidate in Akinyele, particularly Constituency 1.
All contrary claims, party insiders insist, should be treated as false and disregarded.
