Emerging political tension in Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency has been traced to the circulation of false claims suggesting that Governor Seyi Makinde has endorsed a candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
Credible party sources within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyo State Chapter have firmly dismissed the reports, describing them as “baseless fabrications” aimed at misleading the public and creating unnecessary division among party faithful.
No Candidate Endorsed, contrary to rumours being peddled in some quarters, there is currently no endorsed candidate for the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.
Insiders maintain that Governor Makinde has not made any decision between leading aspirants, including Seye Gbaroye and Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji.
The governor has not endorsed anyone. Any claim suggesting otherwise is false and should be disregarded, a party source stated.

The spread of the endorsement rumour has been linked to overzealous supporters, with party stakeholders expressing concern over what they describe as deliberate misinformation driven by personal interests.
Leaders within the constituency warn that such actions, allegedly fueled by short-term gains, could undermine party unity if not addressed promptly.
Supporters of Hon. Seye Gbaroye (Omowa) have called for restraint, emphasizing that the race remains open and should be decided through due process.
They insist that Gbaroye’s growing grassroots appeal and consistent engagement across Egbeda and Ona-Ara position him as a strong contender, but stress that only a transparent and credible process will ensure lasting unity within the party.
The Gbaroye team also reiterated its respect for party leadership at all levels, noting that they hold all stakeholders and elders in high esteem.
They assured that if given the party’s ticket, their campaign would be inclusive, carrying every member along regardless of prior alignments during the candidate selection process.
Party elders have reiterated the need for discipline among members, urging aspirants and their supporters to avoid spreading unverified claims.
They emphasized that the PDP must uphold its internal democratic principles and resist any attempt to impose candidates through misinformation.
As consultations continue, the situation in Egbeda/Ona-Ara remains fluid. What is clear, however, is that Governor Makinde has yet to deliberate or endorse any candidate for the federal constituency.
All claims to the contrary, party insiders insist, are false and should be treated as such.
