EGBEDA/ONA-ARA 2027: Seye Gbaroye Rejects Alleged Consensus Stakeholders’ Decision, Calls It Illegal
A prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency, Who is also a leading aspirant, Hon. Seye Gbaroye, popularly known as Omo Wa has formally debunked rumors regarding a purported "consensus stakeholder decision" ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released to the press on Thursday, Gbaroye described the news circulating on social media and within local political circles as "faulty, premature, and a misrepresentation of the party's current internal dynamics."
Key Highlights of the Statement
No Official Verdict: Gbaroye emphasized that while consultations are a natural part of the political calendar, no definitive agreement has been reached regarding a consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat.
The "Faulty" Narrative: He noted that the reports claiming a unified front behind a specific individual were designed to "create a false sense of finality" and bypass the democratic processes of the party.
Adherence to Party Supremacy: The chieftain reiterated that the PDP is built on a foundation of equity and that any major decision would be communicated through official party organs, not through "speculative leaks."
The People Must Decide"
Addressing his supporters in Ibadan, Gbaroye stressed that the strength of the PDP lies in its grassroots involvement.
"You cannot have a 'consensus' without the actual consent of the stakeholders involved.
What is being circulated is a narrow view that does not reflect the collective will of the Egbeda/Ona-Ara PDP family. We must prioritize transparency if we intend to remain the party of the people come 2027."
Looking Ahead to 2027
The Egbeda/Ona-Ara federal constituency is often regarded as a political "litmus test" in Oyo State due to its high voter population and strategic importance. Gbaroye’s rebuttal signals a brewing internal debate as various interest groups begin to jostle for position.
As of the time of this report, the Oyo State PDP leadership has not issued a formal reaction to the "consensus" rumors or Gbaroye’s dismissal of them. However, insiders suggest that the party is keen on avoiding the internal friction that often accompanies early-stage endorsements.
He urged good people of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, most especially his teeming supporters and followers to remain calm as he remains committed to HIS ASPIRATION.
Gbaroye concluded by urging party faithful to remain focused on supporting the current administration under our able and pragmatic leadership of Engr. Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde and to ignore "distractions aimed at sowing seeds of discord.
Signed:
Oluseye Ebenezer Gbaroye
Aspirant, 2027 Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency Seat.
