Rukayat Balogun Extends Goodwill to Christians

As Christians across Nigeria and around the world celebrate the Easter season, Hon. Amb. Chief (Mrs) Lamidi Rukayat Tolani Balogun has extended warm greetings to the faithful, urging reflection on the values of hope, sacrifice, and renewal that define the occasion.

In her Easter message, Balogun emphasized the significance of the celebration as a symbol of new beginnings and collective progress. She encouraged Christians to embrace the spirit of unity and compassion, noting that the lessons of Easter remain vital in fostering peace and development within communities.

This Easter, may hope rise, and may our future shine brighter together, she stated, calling on citizens to remain steadfast in their belief in a better tomorrow.

Balogun, who has declared her aspiration to represent Akinyele Constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly come 2027, also used the opportunity to reaffirm her commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance. She highlighted the need for collaborative efforts in addressing socio-economic challenges and building sustainable opportunities for the people.

According to her, the journey toward a prosperous constituency requires visionary leadership, active citizen participation, and unwavering dedication to public service. She pledged to prioritize education, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and social welfare if given the mandate.

Notorious cultist, Oko-Ilu arraigned in court on nine counts in Osogbo

A wanted cultist in Osun State, Hammed Rasheed, 29, popularly known as Oko-Ilu has been charged to court. Oko-Ilu was brought to court by the Police before the Chief Magistrate Olufemi Ayilara of the Osogbo Magistrate Court on Wednesday. The suspected cultist was charged with nine counts bordering on murder, unlawfully killing two persons, disruption of public peace, cultism and others. He was charged with the death of Hassan Adedeji, one Idowu (A.K.A Delta) and the shooting of one Inspector Gbenga Eke. The charge sheet brought to court by the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun was not read in the court as the Magistrate did not take Oko-Ilu’s plea. The Magistrate, Ayilara remanded him in Ilesa prison and adjourned the case till October 7. A magistrate’s court sitting in Wuse, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has remanded Prof Zainab Duke Abiola in Suleja Prison over the assault of Inspector Teju Moses, a police orderly attached to her. A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has convicted the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa for contempt of court in relation to his agency’s failure to comply with an earlier order of the court.
