PDP Governorship Candidate, Hazeem Gbolarumi Unveils Candidates in Akinyele Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, on Wednesday visited Akinyele Local Government to formally unveil and present the party's candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event brought together prominent leaders and stakeholders of the PDP, as party members gathered to demonstrate unity and readiness for the forthcoming electoral contest.

Among those in attendance were the PDP leader in Oyo State, Hon. Jelili Adeleke; the Akinyele PDP leader, Alhaji Tiamiyu Musbau Onigbongbo; the Oyo State PDP Chairman, Prof. Akinoso; the PDP State Women Leader; and the Akinyele Local Government Party Chairman, Alhaji Mumeen Adeyemi, Akinyele Women Leader, Mrs Aderoju

Also present at the event was Hon. Wasiu Akinleye, representing the Lagelu State Constituency.

During the gathering, the party formally presented its candidates for various legislative positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering was seen as part of the PDP's ongoing efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure, mobilise supporters and build unity across Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The presence of key party leaders and stakeholders at the event further reflected the party's determination to present a united front and consolidate support across Akinyele and Lagelu communities.

With the formal presentation of its candidates, the PDP has signalled its readiness to intensify political engagement and mobilisation as preparations gradually gather momentum towards the 2027 general elections.

Notorious cultist, Oko-Ilu arraigned in court on nine counts in Osogbo

A wanted cultist in Osun State, Hammed Rasheed, 29, popularly known as Oko-Ilu has been charged to court. Oko-Ilu was brought to court by the Police before the Chief Magistrate Olufemi Ayilara of the Osogbo Magistrate Court on Wednesday. The suspected cultist was charged with nine counts bordering on murder, unlawfully killing two persons, disruption of public peace, cultism and others. He was charged with the death of Hassan Adedeji, one Idowu (A.K.A Delta) and the shooting of one Inspector Gbenga Eke. The charge sheet brought to court by the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun was not read in the court as the Magistrate did not take Oko-Ilu’s plea. The Magistrate, Ayilara remanded him in Ilesa prison and adjourned the case till October 7. A magistrate’s court sitting in Wuse, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has remanded Prof Zainab Duke Abiola in Suleja Prison over the assault of Inspector Teju Moses, a police orderly attached to her. A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has convicted the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa for contempt of court in relation to his agency’s failure to comply with an earlier order of the court.
